As the season is coming to an end, I began to brainstorm ideas for my spring capsule and reflect on my wardrobe for winter. What worked? What didn’t? Why?
I noticed that, more than any previous season, my most worn pieces were so frequently worn that I could think of no better way to describe them than “workhorses”.
On the other end of the spectrum, the pieces I didn’t reach for as often I actually didn’t reach for at all. Ok, some I wore a few times. But less than five wears in about four months (ugh, long northern winters) is pretty much the same as not at all. And this list was a lot longer than I expected. In a capsule of 36 items, 7 fell into this category. Plus, I included my hats and scarves, which I didn’t count as part of the capsule (I don’t count accessories except for my bag for the season).
Favorites: red plaid dress, emerald button front skirt
Workhorses: black skinny jeans, black ankle booties, black pea coat, maroon bag
Pieces that surprised me: olive puffer vest, black & white plaid shirt
Least worn: thick black sweater, black cardigan, black v-neck, chevron print dress, black & white circle skirt, black pencil skirt, maroon flats, some hats & scarves
