This weekend I’m headed to visit my parents for Mother’s Day. I’ll be driving there Saturday morning, staying the night, and heading home Sunday night. I thought I’d share with you my simplest list for an overnight bag that includes everything I need to feel comfortable–and it all fits inside a purse.
On Saturday, I’ll be wearing plain black leggings and an over-sized tee for maximum comfort while driving. Since the weather calls for sunny skies, I’m opting for a striped button down in lieu of a jacket. I’ll finish it off with my beloved Daniel Wellington watch and my black gladiator sandals. These items will not be packed into my bag as I will be wearing them.
For church and Sunday brunch, I’ve chosen a simple, floral wrap dress. This dress is an old favorite of mine and is comfortable enough for the drive home. The gladiator sandals will keep it from looking too formal. An easy day dress is perfect for an overnight bag because it’s an all-in-one, compact outfit!
Clothing odds and ends: I’m bringing a lightweight, moon print tank to pair with my leggings for pajamas and a spare pair of underwear (not pictured).
My beauty basics vary from time to time, and I can certainly get by without some of these in a pinch, but this is what I currently use to feel fully refreshed in the morning.
For skin care I have cleanser, moisturizer, and my everyday makeup bag.
The only hair item is a travel-sized dry shampoo.
The other items, like eye care, toothbrush & toothpaste, and deodorant, I would pretty much consider non-negotiable.
The final and most necessary items are my wallet (with keys, bobby pins, and a hair tie inside) and my phone + charger.
Have a lovely weekend! If you live in the U.S., have a happy Mother’s Day!
