Day 6 of my 30 day challenge to break my weight loss plateau is over.
Today felt like both a success and a failure. It was a success because I managed to get up early and get in a gym session before work. This is my ideal routine for weekdays since I am often too tired to motivate myself to workout after work.
Even though I’m proud of myself for that, I’m disappointed that I had yet another day where I struggled with dinner. Today, I made the rather dumb choice to go to the grocery store before eating dinner. You know how hungry grocery shopping goes – we’ve all been there. I ended up buying a big bag of snap pea crisps and proceeded to eat them on the drive home. Not all of them, thankfully. Actually a semi-reasonable amount. The outcome could have been much worse but it still felt like I ruined an otherwise great day.

Today’s exercise: I got in a short morning workout before work. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes of weights (focusing on arms), and 5 minutes of stretching.
Today’s food: For breakfast, I’m back to my favorite smoothie. My lunch was the same as yesterday: pasta with veggies, a bit of rice added to bulk it up, and an apple on the side. I had a banana as a morning and afternoon snack. For dinner I had the mildly embarrassing combination of snap pea crisps and a load of dates.
Today’s calorie totals: 2133 consumed – 2153 burned = -20 kcal. Although I got all sorts of snacky for dinner and overate (which I’m really trying to work on, I swear!), I still managed to create a small deficit because of the morning workout. My LoseIt! calorie goal is calculated for me to lose about one pound per week.
